In order to be diagnosed, you need to see a knowledgable doctor. Some women have been diagnosed and treated by general physicians, others by OB/GYNs but the majority seem to have results from endocrinologists. It does not matter which you see as long as they are familiar with the recent research in the area of PCOS.

Weight watchers may be too high in carbs. It seems that PCOS is related to an insulin problem and watching carbs seems to help. Try cutting out white bread, white potatoes, white rice and pasta. Replace them with healthy, lower carb alternatives such as whole wheat, sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, brown rice and speghetti squash.

Currently we take a combination of drugs that is individualized for each of us but generally based on attacking the insulin problem or testosterone problems. You will see many women talking about Glucophage (metformin), Avandia or Actos. Any website on PCOS that has been built in the last 3 - 4 years should mention the insulin connection. http://www.pcosupport.org is a good place to start any research. They have links to other good sites as well.
