Starting glucophage with normal fasting insulinFrom: Joy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 17 Jun 2002 16:43:51 -0500 (CDT)
My fasting insulin came back at a hopelessly normal level of 8, which is confusing because I have all the symptoms of hyperinsulin. My doctor (who is closing his practice and moving in 2 weeks) is willing to still try me on glucophage since the last time I conceived was after 3 years and after being 6 weeks on the atkins diet. He feels that my history shows that I may have an insuling problem and that there is really no harm in at least trying the glucophage. Meanwhile, I am having to find another doctor or RE that is up on this new research to follow me. What do you think? Do you think there is any harm in going ahead and trying the glucophage? I am trying to go on the Atkins diet again, but having a harder time with it this time around. Would the glucophage, normal fasting insulin levels, and a low carb diet be dangerous? I am going to give the diet a try for at least 2 months before the glucophage, but would really like input on the glucophage!! Thank you so much!! All input is appreciated! Sincerely, Joy
