Re: Clista - ExerciseFrom: Clista (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 16 Jun 2002 21:37:05 -0500 (CDT)
Hey Jenn. What type of exercise isn't easy to say. I don't know if you belong to a gym or would consider joining one or want to work out at home. And I don't know how much time you'd have to spend exercising or if you have any conditions or injuries to consider. Generally speaking, in a gym setting, I would start a healthy person out with a 5 minute warm up, followed by at least 20 minutes of weight training, followed by at least 40 minutes of cardio exercise, then at least 5 minutes of stretching. This would be 3 or 4 times a week. For someone working out at home, all that's needed is a few handweights (3 & 5 pounds to begin with),a jump rope, an exercise band and a stablizer ball. These items can be purchased for well under $50 total and the band and ball should come with instructions for basic exercises. The plan would be to alternate jumping rope for a few minutes with an exercise using the weights, band or ball, with rest periods between sets. Please keep in mind, the intensity of both programs would depend on the person's current fitness level. Just remember, any exercise is better than no exercise. Hope this helped at least a little, Jenn.
