FINALLY losing the pounds!!!! How I'm doing it. (kind of long, sorry!!)

Hi everyone, I hope you all are well. I haven't posted in a while , largely in part that I just found out that my son has PDD-NOS, and shows signs of Hyperlexia and Aspergers Syndrome. (In short, he is somewhere on the autistic spectrum, but they won't know how severe his case is until he starts getting older. He is only 4 years old right now.) So, getting through the past couple of months has been a roller coaster ride, to say the least. O.k., sorry about being off topic. I have found a way to lose my extra padding that REALLY works for me. First, I do not say that I'm on a DIET because diet = failure for me. I am going through a "lifestyle change" (how does that sound? hahaha) I have changed the way that I look at food in that I don't see it as the enemy anymore, I see it as good fuel for my body. I eat very healthily, however if I want a piece of chocolate or some other indulgence, I let myself have it. I have a smaller portion than I would normally have had, and that way I don't feel like I'm being too strict and depriving myself. I LISTEN TO MY BODY!!! I used to eat just because there was food in the house, hungry or not!!! I also used to clean my plate, even though I was about to bust out of my pants!! I figure, if you have to unbutton your jeans to give relief to your full, swollen belly, you've deffinately gone too far.(for me, anyway) Eating until you're uncomfortable is a good way to abuse your body, and becomes a bad habit very quickly. I walk everyday for a half hour, and I am hoping to slowly work up to an hour & a half. Before I walk, though, I take a 5 minute HOT shower to limber me up so that I have more energy to burn. (trust me ladies, this WORKS. try it once and you'll always do it) My last tidbit of information is one of the best things I could have began doing for myself. I no longer say that I have to lose 100 ponds because it seems like an impossible goal to set. Instead my goal is 20 pounds at a time. I worry about the 20 pounds that I'm working on RIGHT NOW, and don't even think about any of the other weight. I have lost 9 pounds so far on this new "lifestyle" of mine, and I am only 11 pounds away from my first 20 pound goal! (see how much better that sounds than saying I'm 91 pounds away from my goal weight???) I feel WONDERFUL about myself!! Even my husband has commented on my rising confidence level, and about how much happier I've been lately. Now THAT'S better than an icecream sundae, wouldn't you say? :) Christie Jackson
