Re: stretch marks.From: jodi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 13 Jun 2002 14:31:45 -0500 (CDT)
Ummm.... why are you posting this to a PCOS board? Most of us have bathing suit worries that are far more disgusting than stretch marks... That said... unfortunately, there's not all that much you can do for stretch marks. You can get stretchc marks from losing weight too quickly OR from gaining weight quickly... so it's probably from weight loss. Often they will fade with time, but you will still have weird uneven ridges in your skin. You can try cocoa butter, but a lot of people say that the myth that cocoa butter heals stretch marks is, well, a myth... There are scar care products that will probably help with stretch marks, but they are expensive... I was just looking at Curad scar therapy patches and whoa... a box of 21 SMALL patches (something like 2 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches) costs 14 dollars. You need to use them 8 weeks to see results - what a marketing ploy, eh? Why don't they give you an 8 week supply then??????? But no, you have to buy three boxes to get an eight week supply... even though you only NEED 2 2/3 boxes. I wanted to use them for my arms, lots of self inflicted scars... but did the math and realised that IF this were to work, it would cost me upwards of 300 dollars. For that much, I can probably have something done in a doctor's office with more hope for results... Anyway... those are your options. Moisturize, try scar care products, or live with it. They should lessen over time if this is from weight loss - i have them on my inner thighs from weight loss- but they will probably never go away. - jodi
