The portability act doesn't apply to those who go from one individual
health plan to another individual health plan -- unfortunately, I've
learned this from my present ongoing experience. I also cannot get
individual coverage -- apparently the insurance companies only want
healthy people -- those with any medical problem are out of luck --
unless you want to pay really high premiums to go into the state
high-risk pool -- problem is, many can't afford such premiums. Guess I
could check out what the city hospital charges for healthcare. I really
hate being in this situation -- this is America, and yet healthcare is
out of reach for many. I wish it were as Pat suggested, basic
healthcare for all -- yes I realize that some canadians complain about
their healthcare system, but from where I stand, it looks darn good to
me (does that mean I have to move to Canada for healthcare :o( ). I
wish we had national coverage, and for those who wanted a stepped up
health plan, additional coverage could be purchased. Okay, guess I
better stop dreaming...
