Diane 35 and Metformin, PCOS --worried a lotFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 11 Jun 2002 02:41:14 -0500 (CDT)
I had been diagnosed with PCOS, with very high value of insulin means IR, and the right ovary enlarged 1.5 times because of multiple follicles inside and also tiny follicles on the periphery of left ovary in the beginning of April. I had been trying to conceive for about 16 months, and after 8 months of treatment for conception, i had been diagonosed with PCOS and IR. I have been using Metformin 500 , 3 times a day since start of April, that month i got periods at 28 days, but were more painful than usual, then my dr prescribed me to use Diane 35 for 3 cycles that i started on the first day of next cycle on may 9. This cycle was also painful and i also had lots of nausea and motions at the onset of periods. During the first cycle of Diane 35, i experienced extreme discomfort with bitter taste and diarrhea, all the time. My next bleeding started at the day 25th, accompanied by severe pain that i could not move from the bed for 1.5 days, the pain was like severe contractions on the right side just as at the time of delievery. Now i have started the 2nd cycle of diane from 7th of this month, i am again nauseatic (the nausea subsided during the last days of previous cycle after finishing Diane) and also my lower abdomein pain and discomfort is still there. I am worried a lot about the situation. Whether this treatment can remove the PCOS, and how long i will have to do it, i want to conceive as soon as possible, secondly after stopping Diane in July i.e. after 3rd cycle, should i conceive, is it healthy as Diane is BCP, and i have heard that after every BCP u should wait for 3 months. Also is it possible to conceive while taking Diane, if yes than how would one know about it. I am really worried about the state. I am 31, and have a 5 yr child, whom i conceived naturally without any difficulty. Thanks a lotfor moral support Regards Huma
