PCOS is an endocrine problem, not an ovary or uterus problem. Having a hysterectomy will not help the PCOS, it will only stop the "monthly" periods. You will continue to have symptoms of PCOS which may include hair loss, weight gain, unwanted hair, skin tags, etc. The symptoms may definately include increased risk for diabetes and heart disease.

You can do a search on this forum at http://forums.obgyn.net/pcos/. You will find the stories of women who have had hysterectomies. You will also find discussions that have gone before on this forum.
