Hi I've been on metformin for about 9 months now and i find that my symptoms from it vary. It can make you feel almost hungover in the mornings, especially if you take it too late into the evening. Try and take 2 tablets in the morning with food and only one at night. Drink plenty of water as well.

Sometimes i have no effects from it, but certain foods make me have to run to the loo! Just experiment. In general, if i eat too much fat and sugar it's bad news. The more you take it, the less probs you have but it does come in phases.

As for alcohol...i drink it lots and i seem fine!!!

On more positive side, it is great stuff...i have regular periods, and no symptoms really. I only weigh about 8 and half stone as well despite eating loads!
