If my doctor doesn't know much about insulin resistance (too > many don't), what should I tell him? > > Anything else you can tell me so I can go prepared? > > Thanks. > CW, I had back problems for over 20 years. Last summer I hardly could move. I got relief from a chiropractor, my doc. said LOSE WEIGHT. Finally after still having problems I got a referral to a Neurologist. She asked if I had diabetes while testing with needles and electrodes. I was given a rx for Celebrex and started on Neurontin, the dose was increased to 600mgs 3 times a day. I read an article stating excess insulin pools in trigger points. Since increasing Glucophage to 1000mgs twice daily my upper back is better, which is where there is a trigger point. I don't have any carpal tunnel symptoms any more. I couldn't stand the wrist supports at night. My lower back effects my leg. I have a herniated disk, so walking is limited. Today I went down 2 flights of steps and I hurt now. I don't nave low glucose, I'm borderline diabetic. I am insulin resistant. I hadn't been dx when I went to the Neurologist. Tell yours you are IR and have concerns about the damages it can do. Take notes with you so you don't forget anything. Wishing you well. Clara
