Hi Jane -

Not to worry! I know getting an actual diagnosis is scary, but it really opens up doors for you as far as treatment and things go. Besides, once you know it's PCOS, you'll know it's not YOU - it's just that this disease happened to you, so you'll work to fix it!

It's a shame you've been getting the runaround from your doctors so far. Keep trying, it's so worth it! Try other OBGYN's, and see if you can get in to an endocrinologist. Even a regular family doctor can be a great PCOS physician as long as they're up to date on it.

The diagnosis and good treatment are important, not only because they'll help you feel and be healthier, but because treating PCOS now can help to prevent problems from becoming worse as you age. Treatment of the underlying insulin issues also has a phenomenally high success rate as far as pregnancy goes. So don't give up yet on being a mom! Your chances are still very good!

If it appeals to you, contact your local PCOSupport chapter. I find that it makes all the difference in the world just being around other women who share this, feeling normal for once! Maybe it can help you too.

Take care. Please email if you want to chat!
