Animal crackers are probably very bad for those cravings. Very high in simple carbs, sugars, and (as you said) low in fat.

Better choices are products that are low in carbs, higher in protein, and contain moderate amounts of fat. The fewer carbs you eat, the fewer you'll crave, and it will get easier and easier.

This is a receipe posted last year by Kimberly for some low carb cookies:

These are SO good, I would even eat them when I'm not low-carbing! It is hard to believe anything this simple could taste this decadent! They're kind of cute too and would be perfect for Christmas. Unbelievable Peanut Butter Cookies

1 cup natural peanut butter 1 cup splenda (the cup for cup kind) 1 egg

Mix together. Drop onto a cookie sheet with a tablespoon. should make 20 or so. They don't spread so don't worry about putting them too close together. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 12-14 minutes. Watch them, as the bottoms brown before the tops. Tops that are golden should be done.
