Re: Testing for IR (was) Re: anorexic individuals with pcosFrom: Pat (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 29 May 2002 19:51:25 -0500 (CDT)
How do you (does he) know you don't have the early stages of IR. Are you heavy? Are all of your blood sugars normal, and insulin levels normal ? I would question his comments. But, you might not have it severe enough to need medication, espeically if you can control it other ways. It is a contunuum, so there are degrees. Dr. Cabot in her book "You Could have Syndrome X[http://home.attbi.com/~cnmpat/baleatdiab.html#YouMightHaveSyndromeX] describes 5 Stages of abnormal Blood Sugar MetabolisM. The first state is Insulin resistance only, and the second one is Insulin resistance _ high levels of inslulin and normal blood sugar levels, and so on. I think I will write this chart up and post it with some of my other info. Anyway, you get the idea. Pat S <<<Besides, I'm >one of the few with PCOS that don't have IR.>>>>
