Just simply tell your doctor you want a glucose/insulin fasting blood
test. Demand it. Eat lots of carbs a day or two before, and don't fast
more than 8 hours before the test. If your glucose level is still on
the low side and your insulin is over 10, chances are you have IR. You
don't have to be overweight to be IR. I did not start gaining until my
mid 30's. Before that I was wonderfully thin, even though I suffered on
and off from IR symptoms and had pcos and didn't know it at the time.
