Make an appt. with an endocrinologist or gyn that KNOWS about PCOS. Ask
for blood tests for PCOS and Insulin Resistance.
I am currently on 2 types of medication. I am on Glucophage to control
the insulin resistance and all the numerous symptoms related to it. And
I take Demulen, a birth control pill, which helped resolve my hair
problems and pms. I eat a very well balanced diet that is fairly high
in protein and low glycemic carbs (Sugar Busters is a good book, take
supplements, and I do a wide variety of exercises 4-5 days per week. For
me, it's a perfect balance.
PCOS is complicated. Not everyone has the same symptoms and not
everyone reacts the same to different forms of medications and
treatment. My warning to younger people is don't wait and put it off as
it gets much worse with serious consequences as you get older.
