Could I be pregnant?From: Melissa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 20 May 2002 17:47:44 -0500 (CDT)
Okay everyone. My nerves are completely shot. ( I am also on the mailing list so I hope that I am not annoying anyone by writing this in both places). I was put on Clomid over two months ago. I was told by my doctor to wait a month after each dosage of Clomid to see if I had a cycle. First month I dad menstruate after 37 days. It has now been 41 days and still no sign of any menstrual cycle. I can usually tell a few days in advance before I get a cycle with the back pain I get and nothing has happened so far. Called the doctor and was told to test myself on Friday. Took the test and got a very faint positive. Was told to take another test which I did. now I haev taken 4 tests total since Friday but with three different name brands. The most expensive test was the first one and the positive one. The next two were very cheap and the one I took today was middle of the road. First test was positive, the next 2 were hard to read, and the one today was difinetly negative. So I called the dcotor again today and told her what was going on. She told me to wait a week and then get a blood test done. Anyone else have this problem with home pregnancy tests and were actually pregnant? Can anyone explain why one test would be better or worse than another? How much time should a person on Clomid typically wait before testing oneself? Especailly since without meds I menstruate if I am very LUCKY once a year. Could it be just too soon to test? I guess I want to know if I should even have my hopes up? I am so nervous. My husband saw the faint positive and is now very excited. I don't want him to be disappointed yet again, not that I can help that if I am not pregnant. How easy is it to get a false positive verses a false negative? This is how I did it-first morning specimen in a paper cup counting very slowly-Laid flat (except the one that was not suppoed to be) and came back after the alloted time to check it. All test were done this way. Please help, I am on pins and needles and don't know what to think.
