Re: My TSH came back at 2.530 - Is this good?From: Anne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 20 May 2002 12:09:55 -0500 (CDT)
It depends on 1) the lab ranges, 2) your T4 and T3 levels, 3) whether you have thyroid antibodies, but on a whole while most people are between 1-2 you are a little high. If you have symptoms of thyroid disease you could ask your doctor for an 8 week low dose trial. Some doctors prefer to let their patients get truly hypo before treatment - which isn't such a great idea, IMHO, but there is a possiblity that treatment will make you hyper because you're so borderline. I don't know if there are 12mcg pills, you could ask for 25mcg or even try 25mcg every other day. -Be cautious getting hyper can be worse than being slightly hyper. Good luck Anne
