Re: laser treatmentFrom: Angela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 19 May 2002 03:25:11 -0500 (CDT)
I have tried the laser treatments. I wanted to say that it is the best thing I have ever done in regards to my facial hair, although I felt it was very expensive. I had my first laser treatment after I had tried everything from tweezing, waxing, over-the-counter hair removals, electrolysis, and had finally resorted to shaving twice a day. My ex-husband was quite shocked the first time I went in because I had to let the hair grow for 2 days. I had a pretty good beard. Actually, a better one that he had (side note: He could grow a goatee, but that is about it.) My beard was very coarse. The first time I went in for treatment, it cost me $750. The technician turned the machine down after doing the right side of my face because of how red it was getting. She did the left side of my face next. After a couple of weeks, my face was smooth as silk!! I was so relieved. I felt good about myself. I actually wore my hair up! I was told to wait 6 weeks between treatments. Each treatment thereafter cost half of the first one. I kept going until my payments got to be a $50 minimum. At that point, I got to where my appointments were fewer and fewer. The last time I had an appointment I had waited about 8 or 9 months. I have never felt better about the facial hair. Although it is not completely gone, and I doubt it ever will be, it is very light in color and smooth. I do have a few coarse ones every now and then. I just tweeze those. For me... it was well worth the money I threw at it vs. the self esteem boost. Especially when I have a son that will soon be 16. I'm not sure if I'll be continuing to go however because my dermatologists' office keeps trying the new technology and has since raised the minimum visit to $200. Since I've been going I get 1/2 off, but still yet, $100 is a lot of money. We'll see... Good luck to you in whatever and however you choose to handle your situation. Thanks for reading! Angie
