Re: ? about Chromium GTF (for Panacea)From: Panacea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 7 May 2002 11:46:56 -0500 (CDT)
Valeri, You said before you had chips "for the first time", do you mean the first time after taking the GTF, or for the first time since low-carbing? Were you "testing" the GTF by eating carbs, or do you eat carbs like that normally? I'm wondering because it takes about a week or so for the GTF to kick in, so taking one pill and testing it with carbs you don't usually eat will still give you a reaction to the carbs. That reaction may last a little while because you've just whacked your system back out of balance. See more comments below...

The other brands could be more expensive because of where they get the ingredients, how they process them, etc., or just because they think that toting a more pricey tag makes them look higher quality.

There are often many things in it that we don't need, and not enough of the vit/minerals we DO need. We as PCOS'ers need to take large amounts of certain minerals. As prescribed by my doctor, I am taking: Calcium/Magnesium (also solaray, mix of the two) 1000mg/500mg a day in two separate doses (dinner and bedtime). This is the most important of my supplements after the GTF. Calcium, along with helping your blood properly clot, is good for not just bone density but pain relief. If you ever had a problem with painful periods or excessive PMS, calcium is the supplement for you. Magnesium helps immensely with joint, muscle, and bone pain... as well as being really good for circulation and relief from IBS symptoms (keeps you regular). Those two need to be in a precise ratio, which is why I take them as a mixture of 2 parts calcium, 1 part magnesium. I also take Omega-3 Fatty Acids in the form of Salmon Oil, my doctor recommended Carlson's Salmon Oil because it is less likely to be outdated/rancid than other oil brands (keep this one in the fridge). I take two gels two times a day. I have also added Saw Palmetto and Biotin to my regime to help with hair loss. Other supplements you may consider would be a B multivitamin (mix of different B vitamins) which help with energy levels and depression, evening primrose oil to help with your skin/hair... try to avoid iron unless you're anemic, women are naturally high in iron and do not usually need supplements.
