Re: PCOS questionFrom: Pat (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 2 May 2002 11:18:53 -0500 (CDT)
This might or might not be true. I suspect there is a continuum, with some women developing significant symptoms in their teens, and others developing symptoms later. There seems to be a lag in diagnosis (recognition) of the condition by providers, and a lack of understanding of the significance. I think for years provides felt helpless to do anything, and I have found women who were even told they had PCOS, and didn't understand what that meant. I think now is a great time, as there is so much research and interest in the topic, and hope for the future. And, prevention of complications is always important and helpful.
