Re: 1ST TIME ON BOARD AND NEED SOME HELP: Doing labwork correctlyFrom: Pat (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 1 May 2002 10:25:37 -0500 (CDT)
I just came across something that might be helful for folks. If you are on the birth conrol pill, or have labwork for PCOS done while you are on the birth control pill specifically, and maybe Dept, the lab results might not reflect the true state of your condition. As both of these medications specifically alter your hormone levels, and provide synthetic hormones, they temporarity will alter your condition. That is why you might experience some improvement. Lab tests neeed to be done when there is nothing else on board, to reflect where you are truly. As has been mentioned, some folks experience more problems when they stop the birth control pill or depo shot. This is because these medications have suppressed the hormones involved. This might or might not be a good thing, depending upon you and your individual body chemistry. These things all need to be taken into consideration when you have labwork of any sort done. Pat
