A couple of things could make it difficult for you to lose weight. Hypothyroidism and Cushing's come to mind immediately.

For more information on hypothyroid symptoms: http://www.focusonthyroid.com/script/main/art.asp?li=MNI&ArticleKey=914&page=4#toc5at

For more information on Cushing's: http://world.std.com/~csrf/factsheet.html

Note: Cushing's has menstrual irregularities associated with it.

It should take only a couple of days for the tests to be completed. For the insulin test, it may take longer because it has to be frozen. Having said that, it will take a day or so for the lab to print it up and get it to the doctor's office, it will take a day or so for the receptionist to get it and your file together and passed on the nurse. It will take the nurse a day or so to mark the abnormal readings and pass the file on to your doctor who will take a day or two to review the findings, make notes or recommendations and get the file back to the office personell who will type it so that humans can read it. THEN, they may call you or they may mail the results to you. That may take a couple of days. After all is said and done, it may take two weeks before you hear anything.
