Pick yourself up and be proud. This is a time of great advances in the area of PCOS. The last few years have been amazing as far as information.

Medications to help with insulin sensitization have been of great help (Glucophage(metformin), Avandia, Actos). Low carb diets are the first diet that will work for the majority of us. Meds in addition to low carb diets and exercise can help you return to a "normal" person.

Studies have shown that Glucophage helps women with PCOS ovulate. When used in combination with Clomid, over 90% of women have ovulated. PCOS is the most common cause of infertility (40%?) but it is among the most treatable, especially when you are so young.

As far as whys and hows: genetics.
