I am a little confused. Why did the cysts have to be removed and why did it require a hospital stay? The reason that I ask is because the cysts associated with PCOS so not usually require removal. There is a procedure used to "drill" the cysts on the ovary but it is out-patient usually and you resume normal activities the next day. I am concerned that your problem with your ovary and your emotions may be related to something else.

Weight gain can be common when on the pill. Women with PCOS frequently have rapid weight gain. If the pill in decreasing your glucose metabolism, your problem is being made worse. PCOS is an endocrine disorder that seems to be caused by an insulin problem. Is there any possibility that you have changed your eating habits during your last three months. Sometimes when women go onto the pill, they begin having cravings for things.

This is the first time I have seen this particular combination of drugs being used on this board. The Cyproterone Acetate has been shown to be effective in helping with hair loss (I do not know if this is relevant to you or not). I think that most of us use Propecia, Proscar, Aldactone (spironolactone) or Saw Palmetto (available in the vitamin section of grocery stores in the U.S., not sure about availability where you are).

Insulin sensitizing drugs have been very helpful. Insulin problems is thought to be the cause of PCOS so by treating the insulin problem, we hope to be treating the cause of PCOS. The use of Avandia or Actos has been shown to reduce androgen, so it may be able to help with the hair loss as well, if that is a problem.

Your weight gain may be a coincidence, but I would contact my doctor about it. It is not helping your health and could be making the PCOS worse.

You may want to visit http://www.pcosupport.org for information and you may also want to search the archives on this forum for any symptoms you may have. You may also find additional information about your particular combination of medications by doing a search on this forum.
