Met and new period patterns

I'm sorry if this is gross... and I apologize for looking like a ninny... but I'm wondering.

In the past, whenever I've had "real" periods (ie, not BCP induced bleeds), they have followed a pattern of heavy for the first day or two, with brief (~2 hours) moderate cramping, with a tapering off of flow for the next 3 days or so. Very light at the end.

I just got my third almost regular real period on Met... and I'm thrilled at my new near-regularity. However... well, this seems to be following a different pattern than past periods. For the first two days, it was so light that I actually thought I'd gotten excited too soon, that this wasn't a period after all but rather just another instance of baffling bleeding reminding me that I will never be normal and healthy. No cramps, minimal clotty things, and light flow. Ugh. But today - and here's the gross part - that has changed. When I got up for my morning pee, it was like all the chunks came out at once... and now today is sort of a lighter version of what my first day of period usually is.

Now... once upon a time, I remember seeing a tampon or pad ad that said "Your period starts out light, then gets heavy, then gets light again. You need our variety pack." Well, it was in similar words... and I thought, my period is nothing like that. Well... now that I am assured that this is a period now and not some weird event... I'm thinking, this period IS like that.

So I'm wondering... is that what periods are "supposed" to be like? (I know everyone's are different... but just as there's a textbook 28 day cycle maybe there's a textbook flow pattern?) Could this be a really really good sign that the met is working, or just some fluke of things? Has anyone else noticed a change in their periods with the met, not just in when they occur but how?
