acanthosis nigricansFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 12 Apr 2002 19:20:06 -0500 (CDT)
I am replying to your message about acanthosis nigricans, the dark spots on our bodies. I have them on both sides of my face and I'm sure on different parts of my body as well but they really came to my attention on my face and I was sent to a dermatologist who diagnosed it. I still don't understand it. I don't have diabetes but am "close to it." I have high blood sugar and am glucose intolerant. Plus I have a thyroid disorder - hypothyroidism. Is this acanthosis nigricans a separate disorder or does it just mean I have the above disorder? I know it helps to lose weight and exercise.
