Re: anyone ever taken clomid when they were already ovulating regularly? From: Esterina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 9 Apr 2002 12:41:01 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Sherry, I'm 30 years old and have been ovulating regulary for a long time. However my husband and have been married for 4 years this month and we have not been using birth control. We have been trying to conceive for about 2 years now and finally went to see a fertility specialist. He put me on Chlimid (50 mg) a low dose in hopes to stimulate more follices to release eggs. I have been on it since November and have not had any luck yet. Last month I felt very depressed and did not take the Chlomid, almost giving up. I went to see the doctor and he suggested Artificial Insemination. Now I think we have a good chance. I'm ovulating plus the chlomid and the help of the AF. I am going on thursday and Friday for the procedure and am very hopeful that it will work. I read that the chance of multiple birth, usually twins, on Chlomid is approximately 10% depening on the dosage. There are stronger drugs such as Pergonal where the chances increase substantially, more chance of triplets and quads, somehwere around 25-30% maybe more. I also read that Chlomid can sometimes prevent pregnancy, and once you stop taking it then the chances of conceiving are greater. But I've read so much info on the whole fertility issue that sometimes too much information is not helpful at all. Good Luck and I hope this helps! My prayers are with you and your family. Let me know how it goes!
