I thought this was to bring on a period. Sorry--I'm a bit new to all this so I hope I can explain. I had just gotten diagnosed with PCOS in January, and since I didn't want to go back on the pill, the doc. said to start with provera immediately, which happened to be day 27 of my cycle. Thereafter, he said, take provera starting on day 21 of my cycle every month. So, I had a period, and started counting all over again and took provera on day 21 like he instructed. It does bring on a period. If I don't take it, I have very long cycles and when I do finally get a period, I bleed for 11-16 days on average. So, this just keeps me on a more regular schedule. Feel free to ask anything else.
