Re: Facial hair (my SOLUTION!)From: Valerie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 31 Mar 2002 12:13:12 -0600 (CST)
OK... first off, let me tell you that I had my laser procedures done because I had big, thick, pork chop side burns that would make Elvis jealous... I had a moustache that I could have grown and waxed to a pretty good handle-bar for Halloween, and my beard beat my husbands in every way... it grew and grew and grew and required attention 4 times a day to look as good as I could (which was still not invisable)and my hubby has patchy areas that don't grow so I was so jealous because I took after my father's mountain man beard!!! I researched like crazy... there are many lasers... THIS PARTICULAR LASER IS THE ONLY ONE THAT IS APPROVED FOR "PERMANENT ON ALL SKIN TYPES" whereas other lasers don't work on darker skin types and damage skin at higher levels of intensity like you'll require... I encourage you to use the info I gave in a prior post to contact the company that distributes this laser so you can get a list of places near you... I was told that I would most likely require 2-3 treatments... she treated EVERYTHING... side burns, full beard rising high onto the cheeks and a full moustache and a good way down onto the neck too! She warned me (unlike alot of places that were charging more to use a less effective laser and found ways to legally imply better results than it seemed they could really provide) for PCOSufferers it may or may not be permanent because if your hormones continue to run foul at such levels as to create new follicles than it may occur... her recommendation was that I pay attention to getting my testosterone levels down as soon as I got my first treatment... I went on Gluc soon after my first treatment... and let me tell you that after your skin recovers and you start to get growth from the next growth cycle you will still see a whole new thing... where I had my thickest, narliest, nastiest hair it came back nearly baby fine and only grew slowly and required a shave every 3 days or so... I would say go for the laser, get a Gluc/Met regimen and/or Actos/Avandia and/or Aldactone and/or Progesterone so you combat your testosterone levels so you are more likely to enjoy permanence. Sorry to post so long... but I am a happy raving lunatic about not needing to shave! Good Luck... and let me know if you have any more questions or need help with situations during your recovery (recovery is simple and nearly painless if done right)
