Hi Stephanie,
I admire your approach. Of course it is better to do it with diet and
exercise - if that is sufficient. If now, then, only then, to look at
medications (and to use the minimum that works). However, some women
have more severe forms of PCOS than others. Some can manage with diet
and exercise, some have to manage it with diet, exercise and
medications. However, the view with medications can be that you are
improving something that your body is not doing right - the main thing
is to get your body healthy - whatever it takes. If diet and exercise
is not enough, then consider medications, if necessary. I myself don't
know if I need the metformin (I will try going off it later - depending
how my weight/diet/exercise are going - and monitor how I feel / my body
works) - but for the other drugs (thryoid and calcitriol) I take I am
100% convinced that they are necessary - for the rest of my life.
Best wishes
Sally
