Kristy

Hi - I've been doing Atkins for six weeks now, and have had two af, 29 days apart instead of 120 days apart! I hardly ever used to have them before! I have lost quite a bit of weight too. The met is not as effective (so I've been told - please don't everyone flame me) if you don't follow a low carb diet, and having taken it both ways I think I'd agree with my doctor. If you don't like your bcp, why not stop them today? Get af over and done with. On Tuesday (or Monday if it is not a public holiday for you) make another appointment to see your doctor, and talk about the metformin. Arm yourself with info, search the archives type in metformin, and there will be hundreds of posts for you to print off. I did this a year ago - Paula and Sonnet had both written posts that quoted or linked to medical facts, as had others. I was lucky, when I got to the doctor he mentioned the met before I did. Like I said - there will be lots of posts. Even PCOS search on search engines or metformin search on search engines will bring up some medical links that confirm how many doctors use met now to treat us. The sooner you come off the bcp and have normal cycles the better if you are ttc. Hubby and I are in a very similar situation. Monday I start charting temps etc again, I want to see if I will actually ovulate too now that I'm having cycles, and then all that baby dancing will be another wonderful form of exercise! Good luck. Cathy
