Is there such a thing as mild PCOS? opinions on my labs...From: Cyndy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 29 Mar 2002 14:54:49 -0600 (CST)
I've been ttc #2 for 3 years now and I'm currently seeing an RE. I have polycystic ovaries or as my RE calls them "pcos-like" ovaries, but labs have come back normal. FBS-93, fasting insulin-6, DHEA-s 161, prolactin 12, all done a year ago. I just had some more bloodwork done and my FSH is 5.5, LH 7.8, and total testosterone is 47. Androstenedione is not back yet. I'm not overweight, but I do have acne (I'm 34), chin hairs that have increased over the years, very coarse thick underarm hair and bikini line hair that thins out and is not as prolific when I took BCP's for one cycle for cysts, and a skin tag. I also overrespond to infertility meds. I do have regular cycles, and O on my own. I also have endometriosis that was dx and lasered in Dec. Based on my labs, I think I have mild PCOS that's affecting the quality of my O's. My RE says its not an issue since I O and respond to meds and my fasting insulin was normal. My mid-luteal progesterones are low to average. I go for my 2 hour IGTT tommorrow. ANy advice or opinions?? I think I'd like to go see a regular endocrinologist since my RE doesn't think my PCOS is of any concern. If not, why am I not pregnant after 3 years and 4 inseminations?
