Primary AmmenorheaFrom: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 29 Mar 2002 13:07:44 -0600 (CST)
I am 19 years old and have never had a period without the aid of birth control. I have been to two different doctors, had blood tests, and most recently had a bone density scan (to see the amount of estrogen in my body). Even with all the tests the only thing I know is that I am low in progesterone and I guess low estrogen too. It seems the quick fix to my problem is to put me on birth control. What I am wondering is what are the other effects of being low in these hormones? What if I don't take birth control and don't menstrate, will this cause problems in the future? If anyone knows the effects of these two hormones (besides the fact they cause women to have their period) I would appreciate some info. Thanks!
