We get endometrial hyperplasia when we go too many months with our hormones unbalanced. You need to work with your doctor to figure out some way to get yourself cycling regularly; preferably once a month but some people do okay so long as they cycle at least once every three months. Some of us use birth control pills, some use Provera or Prometrium, some use insulin sensitizing medication, and some use a combination of hormones and insulin sensitizers. PCOS women have too little progesterone. You can get this in birth control pills; they are a blend of estrogen and progesterone. Or you can take it as Provera (synthetic) or Prometrium (natural). Insulin sensitizers can help correct your problem at the root so you can make your own progesterone naturally.

Hyperplasia is when the endometrial cells over-produce in order to hang onto menstrual tissue that just keeps building and building and building. Since our hormonal imbalance (when untreated) means we don't make progesterone, our natural estrogen just keeps building that lining tissue up and there is no progesterone to make it slough off in a period. When we finally do have what we think is a period, it is just a case of the endometrial tissue not being able to hang onto the mass any longer and it falls away. This is not a true period and it can be very heavy and clotted and uncomfortable.

I have had endometrial hyperplasia and getting onto a normal cycle helped keep things from getting any worse. Insulin sensitizers helped me to ovulate and I am now pregnant and only about 7 weeks away from having a child. So there is hope, but you may have to try some different medications to find what works for you. Just don't let things go on as they are because if you let the hyperplasia build for too many years, it can lead to cancer that will require a hysterectomy.
