Feel great, but notice mood challenges after ovulationFrom: Anne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 25 Mar 2002 10:40:27 -0600 (CST)
I have been feeling pretty great overall, I've been on treatment for 6 months - glucophage xr (alternating 1000mg to 1500mg depending on how I feel). After trying low carb and feeling sick, and low glycemic which was okay but glucose was continuing to go up, I switched to a high fiber, mostly vegatarian diet. I've been feeling so great and am thrilled that I've dropped two sizes, EXCEPT I notice that the week after ovulation, during PMS that I have to be more careful because my carb cravings increase as does my moodiness and irritability. What I've begun doing that I hope will work, is to concentrate on increasing my muscle mass so that I can become more stable through out the month, since high muscle mass and exercise are suppose to be good for IR. I had actually stopped heavy work outs six month ago before treatment when my relactive hypoglycemia was giving me heart palps during my work out that were scary. So now, I'm real achy from the weight training but hopeful. Has this approach worked for anyone? What I'd really like to know is why is this time of the month so challenging? Which are the hormones that shift after ovulation and should I get hormones tested again?, is there medication I can take for this time (not the prozac for pms pill - forget it's name)? TIA Anne
