Thin Women and PCOS - Please helpFrom: SallyC (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 25 Mar 2002 03:31:44 -0600 (CST)
Dear Ladies, Would like to ask your assistance. My little sister was diagnosed with PCOS about 6 years ago - on hormone testing and absense of periods. Unfortunately she doesn't remember which dr she saw and also doesn't have a copy of the testing results. After seeing her recently and discussing with her she and I both agree that it is still a problem for her. She saw her regular GP who knows a bit about PCOS and said that she didn't think it was serious for my little Sis becuase she doesn't have enough of the symptoms (never mind the initial hormone testing that gave a diagnosis which has not been repeated) (only irregular periods and ovulations, fertility? (not yet tested), male pattern hair loss, energy problems (particularly when she eats carbs), polyuria and thirst, some skin problems (did not check her for any brown patches), major cases of the vagues), and in particular becuase she is under rather than overweight. So how do we convince her dr that this is serious and to give her a referal. Am looking for any documentation that describes PCOS in thin women! Can anyone help. Thanks a lot.
-- SallyC (I noticed that there is now another Sally on the board - so I will sign off this way from now on)
