Re: Prednisone/Pregnancy Caused PCOS

No...OY...I hate that doctors speak and EXPECT we understand or BELIEVE we don't need to understand because they have the white coats...

THere is substantial evidence that PCOS is genetic...they are looking at chromosome 19 quite extensively and there is speculation that multiple genetic factors are involved, which thus makes it entirely reasonable that we all develop our own pallet from the symptom list and we all do so in our own time...

Many women have one or more children before finding out that they have PCOS... I have talked to alot of people about this very subject and even my doctor seems to agree that the ideas I came to are most probably correct... so here goes-

Any time you get pregnant, your body goes through profound chemical change, PCOS being genetic, you had it before your pregnancy too... while your body SEEMED to be fine with respect to having no/few present indicators of PCOS, your body has changed now, and thus your body response/reaction to PCOS may have just become a heck of alot more evident now.

If you search the board, you'll find many other women who had no idea they had PCOS utnil after pregnancy... especially given that doctors often don't diagnose it or work to treat it when they don't HAVE TO due to us forcing them, etc... so too, many women give birth and find that they've birthed more than just a new baby... some gain allergies, some gain/lose breast size after the lactation is over, etc... so it seems to be the same with PCOS...

I have friends with Lupus, so I have come to know that many call it "the great imitator" in that it has aalot of symtpoms... chances are your medical life was focused onto your lupus, not knowing you also had PCOS... If you surf the board at length you'll find many of us have multiple endocrine disorders diagnosed, I have often wondered if PCOS is a symptom of genetically weakened or imperfect endocrine systems, because so many of us have more than one endocrine disorder. IF I WERE U I'D CREATE A MSG TO BARBRA CAMARA, she is very knowledgeable and has both PCOS and Lupus herself. Best of luck honey, we're all here for you!
