Re: TO VALERIE BCP, MET & BreastfeedingFrom: Angela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 22 Mar 2002 12:06:15 -0600 (CST)
Valerie, I have had PCOS/IR for sometime now, I was diagnosed in June 2000 and immediately put on MET. I had a twelve year old son at that time, which I had no problems getting pregnant, my periods at that time where every other month. My first child was a stillborn, which was 4 years before my son was born. After I had Bryan was when I starting seeing PCOS syptoms. When he was six we starting tryign to have baby but by that time I got my periods maybe 3x a year if that. And I didn't have the money for infertility and I didn't know what I had. Finally after 6 years of trying I went ot see a RE becasue I finally had insurance to cover it, that's when I found out I had PCOS/IR and that''s why I couldn't get pregnant. Now the condition is bad and clomid does nothing for me, so in Spet 2000 we tried a cycle of injections and two insemination in a row, and unbelieveable I got pregnant, I had the baby in May 2001, and didn't bother using any protection becasue the drs. told me there would be know way I could get pregnant on my own because the PCOS/IR was so bad. So I continiued on with life. Taking care of my son because he ended up being very sick and needed two surgeries,(nothing to do with the inferitilty or PCOS/IR). He is doing wonderful and if you didn't know him you can never tell he had something wrong besdies the scar on his belly. Well life went on in Nov of 2001 and ended up very ill, I thought I had caught one of those flus, ut this flu continued until the middle of Dec. when I finally went to the drs. I was weak throwing up all the time it was awful. They did a pregnancy test it unbelievably it came out positive. I was still in shock so I called my OB they did a blood test and it was positive, so they did a u/s and there it was a heartbeat 6w4d. I cried forever So this is the baby that is now due in July. I am really telling you this so you know that there is miracles out there. And you will be one of them, I do believe when someone wants a baby so bad things will happen. I will keep you in my prayers.
