Re: Glucophage & Levoxyl & other meds- ADVICE NEEDEDFrom: Belle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 21 Mar 2002 12:31:43 -0600 (CST)
As far as I am aware, Levoxyl does not have interactions with Glucophage. I would take the Glucophage before the meal if possible since you want it to be in your system when the carbs are being processed. The caffine thing is a real bummer. I cut back slowly in order to minimize the headaches (I was a Mountain Dew addict - I had to cut back to Coke before I could begin going down any further!). 7 - 10 carbs a day is way to little! Water really helps with weight loss (it sounds like a cliche, but it made a huge difference.) Try just cutting back on white bread, white potatoes, white rice, pasta and sugar. This should help. If you need additional help, you can go from there. Alcohol is not good for women who are under the age of menapause. The thing with Glucophage and alcohol is the liver damage potential. The studies that I have seen most recently indicate that drinking purple grape juice has the same anti-oxidant benefit of wine. Other alcoholic beverages are simply empty calories. You should not be in any pain when taking Glucophage. If you experience discomfort, back off of the dosage by 1/2 or 1/4 of a pill until you do not feel the nausea or have diarrhea. Work up slowly. Remember the goal is to reach a theraputic dosage not to see who can get there first or endure the most discomfort.
