Hello....

Last summer I started taking 10 mg of Provera, the first 10 days of the month. Then, about 3-4 days later, I would have a period. This was done not because I wasn't having periods at all, but because my periods were extremely irregular (anywhere from 20 to 40 days), and because when I had a period it was so heavy as to be a bit scary. (Sometimes I would saturate a pad completely in an hour's time, and do this all day.) Since taking the Provera, my periods have been very regular, and the flow has been much less--although sometimes the period can last for 7 days.

Just a couple of months ago, I had a period that was about 2 weeks earlier than it should have been. I phoned the doctor and he didnt' seem concerned, since this was a one-time occurrence. It did happen shortly after I had been hospitalized briefly for some problems with my heart meds. Then, the next month, I had a normal period again.

About 15 years ago, I went through a spell where I flowed continuously for 6 months without stopping, then went into a spell where I didn't have a period for 6 months. My endo at that time put me on the Provera, again 10 days out of the month but I don't remember the dosage, and that caused me to have periods. After a couple of years, I started having periods spontaneously and so stopped taking the Provera. Now, many years later, I am taking it again after being told I have this syndrome.
