For Anne R. or anyone else who knows about good testosterone levelsFrom: J.W.J. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 21 Mar 2002 00:05:23 -0600 (CST)
>>>Be very sure to ask your doctors what your actual testosterone value (in >>>either a test of free or serum levels) is. Do not accept that it is >>>"normal" or "high normal", etc. Your number needs to be below 30 if you >>>want to ovulate. Testosterone is a powerful ovulation inhibitor. >>>Avandia can help reduce testosterone greatly. The old thinking was that >>>"normal" testosterone in women could be as high as 50, but now they know >>>it has to be under 30 if we are to ovulate freely and have normal >>>cycles. Hope this helps!!!! >>> I was interested in this previous message that, I believe, Anne R. wrote in December. I had never heard or read this information. I would love to have a reference on this, if there is one. I am getting ready to see an endo. in April and would like to take it to him. Also, in relation to this, is there also a number that is recommended for the free testosterone? I've looked on the IVF site at those numbers, but wondered how close to correct they are. They say total testosterone should be between 6 and 89, and free testosterone should be .7 to 3.6. My numbers are: total is 38, free is 5.0. Thanks.
