Hi everyone:

I subscribed to this forum about a week ago and I have been getting e-mail of you comments ever since. It has been very informative and interesting. It took me until today to figure out how to post. (Yes, it is amazing I have a Ph.D, anyway it is in philosophy so what do you expect.)

I have several issues that I would Like to comment on and get your feed back if it is not to much to ask. First, I find it interesting that I have read about strech marks and PCOS together. I am confident that strech marks do have a genetic base but I am becoming more convinced that the genic link to PCOS is very closley related to the genetic link to strech marks.

A little about my story. I have always had irregular periods and around 17 was put on birth control as were so many others. At 25 I had been married a year and pregnancy was being considered so I became lazy taking the pill. With in two months I was pregnant and very excited. I had a little girl named Carson and very shortly after we started trying agian as I have always wanted several children. Three years later nothing. So in to see a reproductive indocronologist. I was under thirty, had already had a successful pregnancy, he said I would be a breeze to get pregnant. to make a long story short, three IUI's, two IVF's, and one donor IVF later no success. I even remember him saying something about polycysts when trying to stimulate me. At that point all I got was an I'm sorry and see ya. Just recently I was reading Woman's Day and read the artlicle on PCOS. It was like reading my life story. I took it to my new OB and test confirmed that I did infact have PCOS. I will never forgive those fertility doctors. PCOS is responsible for 70% of all infertility in women. I was never going to get pregnant until my symptoms were addressed my LH is 5:1 ratio. Those doctors sent me on my way with no regard for my future chances of heart attack, late onset diabetes, ect.

Anyway, I have started a regiment of Metforin of 500mg two times a day to be increased to 850mg in two months. I have been on it for two weeks so I am anxiously waiting to see if it regulates my periods and I start ovulating. If I do then we will see if I get pregnant on my own if not we will be adding 50mg of clomid to the mix. My only side effects were nausea a little and running off which has since stopped. I am noticing my acne is improving already and my moods are already getting better. I am so sorry this is so long but I have waited such a long time to tell my story to others who understand and can relate. I appreciate you understanding. I am very anxious to talk to others in the same situation. Also, I was hoping for an opionion from some of you. I really want another child but am a little concerned about the age difference there would be between my daughter and a new child. If i get pregnant in the next year they would be around 8 years apart. I still think in the long run it will be okay and that it would be wonderful for her to have a sibling through her life. I am very interested in all of your opinions so please let me know. Thank you one and all from the bottom of my heart for reading, listening and helping me in our common struggle.
