I had been struggling with Glucophage for 3 years, every time I got up to full dose (2000mg)my gastro side affects were so severe I would have to stop it and gradually work back up again. With the XR version, the side affects are not gone, but only about 10% of what they used to be. It did take about 6 weeks on full dose for me to start seeing improvement in my blood sugars (the most visible tool for me) so be patient.
