Freakishly large milk supply! I'm in pain... is this normal w/ pcos?From: Adam (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 9 Mar 2002 18:56:28 -0800
I have been diagnosed w/ pcos by an ob who specializes in pcos. My androgens were 700 which is unusualy high. I think 200 is high enough to be considered pcos. I don't really know alot about pcos. anyway my ob sent me to an endocrinoligist. The endo confirmed the 700 and did a ton of bloodwork. My fear was a prolactinoma she said my prolactin was high but with in normal range for pcos. she pumped me full of cortisol and dex and boom I was pregnant. (prior I was not even ovulating or menstrating)so baby is born and now my ducts are severly clogged (it started day 1)by day 3 I was so engorged I got a pump. I have been pumping between 16 and 23 ounces every couple of hours for 8 days (baby is 11 days old). I saw a lactation consultant at stanford and my ob is helping too. nothing is working. Lecithin, sage tea, benedryl, ice, pumping every 2 1/2 hours with heat. my breasts are lumpy, swollen and bruised from trying to unplug the ducts. my back is sore from pumping and i don't get to see my baby! i could only find info on lackof milk. anyone even heard of this. and yes i have info on the mother'smilk bank. they haven't called me back.i'm losing it please help!
