Re: For Belle - PCOS tests RESULTS

As luck would have it, I do have the European ranges. Each lab does have its own "normal" range based on the calibration of their equipment and the individual lab tech's mode of operation.

I would like to see a fasting and hourly insulin levels but PCOS has been so clearly associated with insulin problems, that some doctors no longer check this routinely.

I am concerned that you are telling me that you had your hormone levels taken "just after a period...ended that day because of the dianette." This could have seriously altered your hormone levels. We recommend that you be off of the pill for a couple of months before having your hormone levels tested. I understand your frustration at the lab mix-up with the testosterone.

I notice right away that your LH is a third higher that your FSH. This is not to the point that we can diagnose PCOS but it is higher than the FSH and this is commonly seen in women with PCOS. If you were on the pill, it may account for the closeness of these two values.

Your lipid levels are actually quite good. You are at below average risk for heart disease based on your ratios.

I do not know your history nor the problems that you present with in the dr. office, but there is nothing here that jumps out as being out of range. Keep in mind that this could be due to the pill. Also remember that a doctor can diagnose you based on personal history, family history and physical attributes (excess hair, central weight gain, scalp hair loss, etc.). When combined, it creates a fairly good picture of your health. The blood work is very valuable and I recommend that you get it done without the influnce of the pill.

I have tried to find out what could be causing your collar bone and ribcage to grow and I have been unable to come up with anything other than what I mentioned before. What does your doctor say about this?
