Advice for First TimersFrom: Danielle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 7 Mar 2002 10:31:00 -0600 (CST)
Hello Everyone! I have been scoping out these boards for quite a while. I'm very impressed with the community atmosphere here. My name is Danielle and I'm 25. I've been having experiencing the symptoms of PCOS since I was about 16-17. When I was 21, after the symptoms got really bad and after I'd gained 40 pounds in 3 years, I went to a gynecologist who suggested I might have PCOS. Unfortunately, my health insurance ended after college. I worked as a freelancer for a while and now I finally have health insurance. I've gotten in contact and set up an appointment with a PCOSupport recommended doctor here in the Philadelphia area. I'm very excited to finally be taking control of this thing and not letting it control ME anymore. My question is: My first appointment is March 15. Is there any advice anyone has for me in terms of getting the most out of this visit? Are there specific questions I should be asking? I have so many. Are there any concerns I should address based on your own personal experiences? Of course, I know what I want to ask, but you all seem to have a lot of wisdom to impart. There have been a lot of lessons learned here. Please advise. Thanks! Danielle W
