Why in the world would we take a razor to our face?? Well, I for one have tried just about EVERY wax and depilitory out there (including Sally Hansen)and NONE of them have worked on my facial hair. So I shave - and I have for years with no difference in the texture of the hair. I don't shave because my mother did, I shave because I will have a freakish woman beard if I don't, And since you can't make money in the circus anymore I've opted for shaving. As for the Glucophage not helping to lose weight... I lost 40 lbs In the first 6 months I took it without changing my eating habits, my insulin was simply doing what it was supposed to for a change and did not end up being stored as fat. The weight loss slowed down after that and I have been low carbing and walking 2 miles a day and have lost some more but VERY VERY slowly. I don't think we are upset that the doctors tell us to lose weight... we're upset when the doctors refuse to look for the reason we are continually gaining weight when there is no obvious reason for it, even when we explain to them we are not eating that much and we also feel like sh*t. What you need to realize is EVERYONE IS NOT THE SAME!!!!! Before Glucophage I dieted (including low-carbing) and worked out like a fiend and the only result was that I gained over 100 lbs, I have not gained another pound since starting glucophage 2 years ago so don't tell me it doesn't help with the weight. It may not directly be a "weight loss" medication per se but it did keep me from becoming diabetic and one of the residual effects of helping my insulin work properly was weight loss and maintenance- and yes I have also done my part as well. Please don't be holier-than-thou because you've "done research", many of us here have been consumed with research since our diagnosis as well, we are not just sitting here in the dark waiting for a savior to tell us how we can get better.
