I apologize, but I think I will speak on behalf on some of the women on this post.....we have been told this far too many times from our doctors. We are ALL trying to lose this battle of the bulge! Yes,as a matter of a fact, one doctor this year, basically told me that there was no way on this planet that I could have possibly gained forty pounds by looking at the sunshine, those were his exact words.I eat low carbs...less than a hundred a day...exercise.,although sometimes it is so difficult,as I don't have the strenght....and I am gaining weight.I didn't have this problem up untill a year and a half ago. This was a prime example of why I was sent to an endo.

Sorry, but it does hurt when no-one believes that you are eating sensibly and exercising. My one doctor truly believes that I must be eating cheesecakes all day long to have packed on the pounds. Most doctor don't understand PCOS. I seen my step son's girlfriend-recently diagnosed with PCOS....she was a super thin model-now she is very overweight and her diet consists of almost nothing. She was bulemic to control her weight. Now want to talk about someone that exercises.......she does and no matter what-she cannot understand how even small, frequent meals that are high protein and low carbs could have made her so heavy. She turned bulemic because she had no other way of maintaining her weight...didn't know she had pcos till this drastic weight problem after conquering her bulemia. She was heavy as a child.

I am not overweight presently....but this weight gain came as a surprise to both myself and my MD.I have pcos-have not ever in my life been overweight, actually normal weight all my life till present!

Are you saying that we are all SITTING waiting for these pounds to just melt away?I think not.The women here are determined to lose the excess flab. We are all trying to share info as to how to exercise and stick to a good diet. For some-yes diet, and exercise may work. For others-they can try almost everything and not lose an ounce. This is an endocrine disorder.....please have a heart:)This reminds me of my last doctor's visit to the doctor from hell!

I disagree with that statement, although I am lucky enough not to have excess facial hair...but I do shave my abdomen hair, and have been for two decades now and there is no way that your statement has any proof. Alot of the facial hair removers can cause extreme skin sensitivites in people. Electrolysis may be a better bet...but in my research,,,what you speak of is simply a myth. The texture of your hair does change every few years-I believe ,every seven years.Same holds some truth for body hair. The hair on my arms is now finer than it was before, and I shaved my arms for years.Look at legs....do they change and get bushier after shaving since puberty?Mine certainly haven't.

I gained forty pounds in a year......by looking at the sun(quote from a very unsympathetic doctor!)It certainly didn't take me long to pack on pounds by the day. Then would it be wise to assume that I should be able to lose it as quickly as I gained it?I know is won't be easy.I used to be able to be within five pounds of a perfect weight. Not anymore.

Some may have weight loss as a side effect of the medication-no-one believes that this is some magic diet pill or cure all for pcos.As women with Ir...we need the met to prevent diabetes.

I think we have all been told this over and over and over again.

In defense of others -I would tend to think that you are simply making a statement that we aren't trying hard enough and that hurts.

Simply put-I think most are definitely trying exercise that fits with their way of life.I cannot imagine what it would feel like to try and exercise with an additional forty pounds on top of the forty that I have already gained. Some women are very heavy, that even getting around can be extremely difficult, but they still try.

I don't think there is one woman in this group that has not changed. For that matter,I think we are rearranging our lives to work around this illness. It is the illness that controls us.We have to try to fight back-yes-but it is always easy for someone else to say. I think most women would be quite happy that this approach has worked for you,as I am.But,on the other hand, alot may be offended at the way you presented this post.As an average weight woman now....I wonder how long it will be till I reach the 200 lbs mark...exercise,diet and meds combined. All of us women are unique and different-what works for one-does not work for the other. That's why we're here.To help each other along.

I agree,,it is a life time commitment, but felt as though you are talking to us,as if we think that we are going to lose weight within a week.I don't think anyone assumes that!
