Re: Shaving the face(Don't)Glucophage(Metformin)and points on loosing weight.From: Christie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 5 Mar 2002 07:27:25 -0500
This is absolutely untrue. I went to cosmotology school, and this is a physical impossibility. When you shave, you remove hair from the SURFACE of the face, not under the skin the same way that when you use a cream remover you remove hair from the SURFACE of the face. You do not come in contact with the hair follicle, therefore you can not change the texture or color of the hair. The best way to explain this is in two ways. One, when a person dyes their hair they change the color of the hair that has grown out, but when their roots grow in, they are the person's natural color. Two, when a person shaves their head and the hair grows back in, it is the same texture and color that it was before they shaved it. I use cream remover as well, as there isn't enough hair to warrant shaving, however in the past two years or so it has become extremely thick and coarse. I have NEVER put a razor to my face, and it has gotten thicker on it's own. In short, it is the hormones that change the way your hair grows, not shaving and you and I should consider ourselves lucky that we don't have to go through that pain everyday. Please ladies, take it from someone that is educated in this field and don't add another item to your list of worries. Christie
>----- Original Message ----- Hello out there. I am still reading posts on shaving the facial hair off ones face. Why in the world would you take a razor to your face and then later in life as you get older the hair be thicker and more coarse? I have heard from someone on here that this is not true but let me tell you............I see it daily and it is true. If you shave your face it will in time be thicker and more noticeable. I use sally hansen cream FACIAL hair remover and it works just fine and the hairs are not thicker and have not gotten thick or darker in the 10 years i have used it.Get more from the Web. FR
