Not doing so well on lower carbs! Advice?!From: tera (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 3 Mar 2002 21:16:47 -0600 (CST)
Hi! I've been watching my carbs for a while now eating at least 50 or more per day. I have not been able to lose weight at that level. I have had the Atkins New Diet Revolution book now for a long time and I am now starting it at the Induction level, of course. The Induction Level allows you to have a maximum of 20 carbs per day for the first two weeks and then you gradually raise your carb level while staying within the number of carbs you need to in order to lose weight. He says that your ongoing weight loss level will vary depending on the person. Anyway, like I said, I am at Induction level and I am struggling! I feel tired, weak and nauseous. I often felt this way before but I would pop some kind of carbs into my mouth (a piece of bread, 10 saltines, a dry Eggo waffle, etc.) and within a short amount of time I'd feel fine again (not nauseous and full of energy). Well, now I'm only supposed to have 20 carbs per day and I cannot afford to eat my carb snacks in order to feel better because I could easily exceed my level on one snack!! Has anyone else experienced this? MY MIND is not craving carbs. MY BODY IS! Does this mean that my blood sugar is getting too low? Does this feeling go away the longer you eat carbs at this level? I have no energy and I feel terrible -- yet if I raise the carbs I most likely will not be able to lose weight since I have been on a higher level for a long time without success! I exercise moderately along with having a very physical job where I break a sweat and I am taking a low dose of Glucophage to help with my IR -- I am only borderline IR. Glucophage is helping some because I've had a period for the past two months. What do you guys think?? God bless! Tera
